Renault-Nissan alliance marks 15th anniversary
The Renault-Nissan alliance has created a strong impact in the automotive sector, and today they mark their 15 years of long relationship. Way back in 1999, Renault had purchased a 36.8 percent of stake in Nissan, which was that time close to bankruptcy. The collaboration has been significant with respective to the current automotive industry scenario. After the take over, the companies have reached overall sales of 8.3 million units, which was just 4.8 millions (global sales) back in 1999.

Today, Renault stands with 43.4% stake in Nissan, while Nissan gets 15% stake in Renault. Commenting on the occassion, Carlos Ghosn, Renault-Nissan Alliance Chairman and CEO, said “Together, Renault and Nissan have significantly expanded their global footprint and generated economies of scale vastly larger than either company could accomplish on its own.” He added saying, “Renault and Nissan have charted a unique for 15 years, maximizing synergies while nurturing each company's direct brands and corporate culture.”

With this, the Renault-Nissan alliance stands on second position for being the most prodcutive cross-cultural collaboration.
