Indian have right to own ‘Nano’:UNFCCC

Indians have the right to aspire to own cars-just as people in wealthy countries. Speaking a day after the launch of the Tata Nano, United Nations Framework Convention on Climate Change (UNFCCC) Executive Secretary Yvo de Boer said that he was not concerned about the Tata Nano because people in India had the same aspirational rights to own cars as people elsewhere in the world. However he warned that automobile makers should use more green technologies in order to meet the challenge of global warming. He added that producing cars in a large number will have a climate change impact. He urged that the world needed new kinds of fuels, vehicle technologies and more efficient engines.
