May 01, 2025: The 2025 Kia Carens will be officially called the Kia Clavis MPV. It has been teased for the first time and the teaser showcases some exterior design elements and a few features.
- April 23, 2025: The new Kia Carens has been confirmed to launch on May 8, 2025. It will be on sale alongside the existing model and will bring significant design changes.

Overview
The 2025 Kia Clavis is a more premium model based on the Kia Carens, set to debut on May 08, 2025 It will come with a heavily updated exterior and a brand new interior with premium features. The Kia Clavis will slot above the existing Carens, which will continue to be part of the carmaker’s lineup.
Exterior

Teasers and spy shots have already given us an idea of what to expect from the upcoming Kia Clavis.

The blanked off grille combined with the new LED DRLs and triangular LED headlights gives the front a minimalist look.

The Clavis is expected to get a new design for the alloy wheels. It could possibly be one size larger compared to the Carens’ existing 16-inch alloys. One can expect some new colour options as well to be on offer.

The rear-end will feature new LED tail lights, with an illuminated LED light bar connecting them.

Even the bumper has been refreshed with a new silver skid plate and the reverse lamp mounted right below the number plate.
Interior

The Kia Clavis 2025 is expected to get a heavily restyled dashboard with more features than the existing Carens.

It’s expected to be offered as a six-seater with captain seats and seven-seater with bench seats for middle row occupants.

The teaser has confirmed the presence of a fully coloured digital driver’s display, which is expected to be the same 12.3-inch unit as the Syros.

Since the 2025 Clavis is based on the Kia Carens, it should offer good space in all three rows, even for six foot tall occupants.

Confirmed features onboard the Kia Clavis include a fully digital driver’s display (12.3-inches), a panoramic sunroof and level-2 advanced driver’s assistance system (ADAS).

It’s also expected to come with a 12.3-inch touchscreen infotainment system with wireless Apple CarPlay and Android Auto.

Other expected new features include dual-zone climate control and a powered co-driver’s seat with boss mode.

Features that are likely to be carried over include an 8-speaker Bose sound system, a wireless phone charger, 64-colour ambient lighting and keyless entry with push button start.
Safety

The Kia Clavis is confirmed to come with a level-2 ADAS suite with features such as forward collision avoidance, adaptive cruise control and lane keeping assist.

The rest of the safety suite should consist of features such as six airbags (as standard), a 360-degree camera, electronic stability control (ESC), electronic parking brake with auto hold and a tyre pressure monitoring system (TPMS).

The Kia Clavis is yet to be crash tested by either Bharat or Global NCAP. However, we expect it to get a better safety rating than the Kia Carens, which secured three stars in the Global NCAP test in 2022.
Boot Space

Based on our experience with the Carens, we expect the Clavis to offer similar boot space. For reference, the Kia Carens offers 216-litre with all three rows up and 645-litres with the third row folded down.

With all three rows in use, the Kia Clavis is expected to offer space for a couple of soft bags and a small suitcase.

It should offer more than enough luggage space for you and your family with the third row folded down.
Performance

The 2025 Kia Clavis is expected to retain the same engine options as the Carens, which gets a 1.5-litre petrol, turbo-petrol and diesel.

The 1.5-litre naturally aspirated petrol is expected to focus more towards refinement and a smooth drive.

If you want your Clavis to be fun to drive, we would suggest you consider the turbo-petrol engine that offers strong performance. However, like other turbo-petrol engines, expect fuel efficiency to drop down when driven in heavy city traffic

The 1.5-litre diesel engine is expected to offer a perfect balance between performance and fuel efficiency. Consider this option if you have heavy running as it offers lower running costs.
