You Can Now Officially Pre-Book Volkswagen’s Taigun

• The Taigun will enter production on August 18 and is expected to be launched in September.

• It will feature ventilated front seats, connected car tech, and a 10.1-inch touchscreen unit.

• Volkswagen will equip the SUV with two turbocharged petrol engines: 1-litre and 1.5-litre units with both manual and automatic transmissions.

• Expected to be priced from Rs 10.5 lakh to Rs 17.5 lakh (ex-showroom).

Volkswagen’s compact SUV, the Taigun, is expected to be launched in September. The carmaker has now started accepting official pre-launch bookings for the SUV for Rs 25,000.

Based on the same MQB-A0-IN platform as the Skoda Kushaq, the Taigun's series production will begin on August 18. While its powertrains and features will be similar to the former, Volkswagen’s compact SUV will have varying exterior and interior styling details for distinction. 

Volkswagen has equipped the Taigun with ventilated front seats, a 10.1-inch touchscreen infotainment system, connected car tech, and a sunroof. It will also come with auto climate control and a digital instrument cluster (only on the top-spec variant). Safety on board includes up to six airbags, electronic stability control, and a rearview camera.

The SUV will come with two turbocharged petrol engines: 1-litre (115PS/178Nm) and 1.5-litre (150PS/250Nm) units, both with a 6-speed manual transmission as standard. Both engines get their own automatic options as well: 6-speed torque converter for the 1-litre TSI and 7-speed DSG for the 1.5-litre TSI EVO. The latter also comes with active cylinder technology that shuts off two cylinders based on driving inputs to increase fuel efficiency.

Volkswagen is expected to price the Taigun between Rs 10.5 lakh and Rs 17.5 lakh (ex-showroom). The compact SUV will go up against the Kia Seltos, Skoda Kushaq, Hyundai Creta, Renault Duster, Nissan Kicks, and Maruti Suzuki S-Cross.
