Toyota to manufacture 70,000 units in first year of its compact cars

Japan based car manufacturer Toyota Motors is coming with a compact car in India by year 2010 and in the first year of manufacturing the company will produce 70,000 units of this model. The company recently launched the most awaited Toyota Fortuner model in India. On the side lines of the launch of new Prado diesel Toyota land cruiser model, Mr Sandeep Singh, Deputy Managing Director of TKM told reporters, To begin with we will be manufacturing 70,000 units of the compact car and are looking at a 10 per cent market share within one year of its release. Mr Singh added that the new car will be 70% domestically made as only the engine of the model will be imported from Japan. Currently the Toyota cars are only about 30% indigenous and most of the components has been imported from Japan. However Mr Singh denied to reveal the prices of the model and said that the prices will be revealed at the time of launching.
