Renault cuts price of Fluence E2 diesel by Rs. 1.64 lakh; names it Advantage Edition
Renault India had pulled an avant-garde move when it launched the Fluence sedan in Indian car market. The Renault Fluence diesel was a trimmed model that missed a lot of features as compared to its petrol counterpart which sported all the fancy features including a six speed CVT automatic transmission. Despite its lower price of Rs. 13.64 lakh, the diesel variant of Fluence sedan couldn’t bag much fan and customer base as people considered the stripped down diesel version expensive.

Renault has pulled a similar move and has dropped the prices of the Fluence E2 diesel by Rs. 1.64 lakh. Priced at Rs. 11.99 lakh (ex-showroom Delhi) the new variant is named as the Advantage Edition. Renault has recently added a new air intake system and an optimized turbocharger to the 1.5 liter K9K engine which now offers better drivability. On the account of increased demand of diesel engine, Renault is hopeful that with the improved engine and sizeable cut in the prices Fluence E2 diesel ‘Advantage Edition’ would grab more attention and sales. Since the name has an ‘Edition’ in it, it can be guessed that the offer is for limited period and is applicable only till the stocks last; so clearly, this is an attempt of the company to clear the stock.

Renault India announced the cut price Advantage variant as soon as it launched the 2012 Renault Fluence E4 diesel with an upgraded engine and extra features under the hood. The features retained by the ‘Advantage Edition’ of Fluence E2 diesel are ABS, ESP, alloy wheels, dual airbags, engine start-stop button and six speed manual gearbox. The features expected to go amiss in the 2012 Renault Fluence E2 ‘Advantage Edition’ include the leather upholstery, rear AC vents, chrome finish on the window sills and trunk lid, dual zone automatic climatic control, rain sensing function on wipers, cruise control, electrically adjustable and foldable ORVMs, rear parking sensors and window blinds, automatic headlamps, ElectroChrome rear view mirror, USB and Bluetooth functionality.
