New Sub-4 Metre Ambassador Launch by March 2014 , Details Inside

Modified On Jul 23, 2013 11:15 AM By Vikas

We have all witnessed the dominance of Hindustan Motors' Ambassador car as taxi in most Indian metropolitan cities and a car for politicians and bureaucrats, but it started losing its grip due to its outdated looks, and entry of some good competitors. But HM has never compromised with its top-notch build quality and powerful engines, and that has been the reason why it has been recently voted the 'world's best taxi' by BBC's 'Top Gear'. But to get things back on track, HM is planning to launch a smaller version of the car with a bunch of new features and a new look by March 2014. And like we reported in our earlier story on Ambassador, the company is also planning to roll out the BSIV compliant diesel version very soon.

Speaking about the new car, Uttam Bose, CEO- Hindustan Motors said that the boot space of the new variant will be decreased but it won't affect the spaciousness of the cabin. Reduction in the boot space will make the car sub-4 metre in length, thus helping the car avail lower excise duty benefits and cost cheaper. However, the new variant will still not fall in the hatchback category.

Bose further said that the new model will be based on the existing platform, but will have many new and advanced features. The name too will remain the same however it will have some prefix or suffix to the 'Ambassador' brand. He also revealed that the car will also be priced quite competitive, which will make it a 'ideal value for money' car.
