We have a one-on-one with Mr Arun Malhotra, Chief Sales & Customer Care Officer, Automotive Division, Mahindra & Mahindra Ltd.

Q1) Mahindra is growing strong with two new product launches this year. What has been the increase in the company's sales growth?

Ans)  In the nine months of the FY12-13, Mahindra and Mahindra passenger vehicle segment has grown by 33%, while the overall growth is above 20%. Mahindra and Mahindra is the only company that has grown in excess of 20% every year, for the last three consecutive years. Hence, the numbers speak for themselves.

Q2) With Ssangyong coming in, how has been the response from the buyers entering Mahindra showrooms?

Ans)  The Ssangyong brand was launched in November this year, and so far the demand has been high. We weren’t able to meet the needs of the buyers, and hence from January we have ramped our monthly production to 500 units. The response has been good, and now we are prepared to meet the demands of our customers.

Q3) How many launches can we expect in the next year?

Ans)  For the immediate basis, the compact version of the Verito will out in the market in the next three months. Also, the other recent announcement that we made was of the Reva NXR. At the moment, we are preparing for these two vehicles.

Q4) Do we see any Ssangyong technology coming in new Mahindra vehicles? Which will be the first to get that?

Ans)  With Ssangyong now being a part of the same group, sharing of technology will happen. We cannot say what technology will come in what vehicle. But yes, technology sharing has began and work on the joint platform has commenced.
