Hyundai has been quite successful with its cars in the country. Right from the time of its launch in the Indian market with the Santro in 1998, Hyundai has had a strong understanding of the market and has produced game-changing cars like the Elite i20 and Creta. Now, adding another feather to its cap, Hyundai has rolled out the seven-millionth car from its production facility in Sriperumbudur, near Chennai. Now, Hyundai India's next target is to achieve the production milestone of manufacturing 10 million cars by the first half of 2021.

With this achievement, Hyundai India has reached the second spot in terms of worldwide production, with Hyundai China still at the top spot. But Hyundai is the first auto manufacturer in India to achieve this feat in a record time of 18 years of beginning commercial operation. The first million was achieved for Hyundai by Santro, back in 2006, eight years after commencement of commercial production. The next million milestones were achieved in a short duration of just 18 to 19 months. The five-millionth car was flagged off in October 2013 by Hyundai's brand ambassador Shahrukh Khan.

At this event, congratulating employees on this very significant achievement, Y.K Koo, managing director and CEO, Hyundai Motor India Limited, said, “HMIL has always set new benchmarks in terms of quality and customer delight by introducing new products with new technology and design to the Indian market, demonstrating superior manufacturing prowess. Our ‘Made in India’ products have impressed global and Indian customers alike. We now have to move to realise our vision as announced during our 20th year of foundation on May 6, 2016, of being the market leader, great place to work, most loved and trusted the brand with modern premium brand essence to touch 10 million units within the first half of 2021. I thank each one for his commitment towards making Hyundai the most loved and trusted brand in India.”
