Honda CR-V and Outlander sales impacted due to lack of diesel engine

The only drawback one could see with both the SUVs, Honda CR-V and Mitsubishi Outlander, is the lack of diesel engine. With the new Honda CR-V launch, hopefully that gap will also be filled. The launch of the 2012 Honda CR-V is hotly anticipated globally including India. The Japanese auto major had officially released Honda CR-V snapshot, from which all the intricacies as far as the exteriors go could be gathered. With the leaked specifications on the new Honda CR-V engine, we are now almost up-do-date with the information. The 2012 Honda CR-V will have Toyota Fortuner, Chevrolet Captiva and Renault Koleos as the potential competitors in the segment.

The diesel engine for the 2012 Honda CR-V is most likely to be a 2.2 L i-CTDI 4-cylinder engine to produce a peak power of 140 Bhp and 251 lb-ft torque. With new Honda CR-V getting a diesel heart in India, Mitsubishi will also have to pull up its socks to introduce the diesel engine for its SUV, Mitsubishi Outlander. The outgoing SUV houses a 2.4 L 170 Bhp power generating petrol motor. With the soaring diesel car demand in the country due to the volatile petrol prices, neither of the auto brands has been able to register reasonable sales with their SUVs, Honda CR-V and Mitsubishi Outlander. The other SUV that had been introduced with the petrol engine is BMW X1.
