Ford EcoSport Launching in China on March 19, India Launch Later
While India is still waiting for the much awaited compact SUV Ford EcoSport to launch here, the American auto major has said to launch the vehicle in China on March 19, reports CarNewsChina. Since China is a market where petrol is preferred more over diesel engine powered cars, so Ford will launch the vehicle in two petrol engine options- a 1.0-litre, three cylinder turbo petrol and a 1.5-litre petrol engine.

Both the engines will have a five-speed manual transmission as standard, while the 1.5-litre petrol engine will be offered with an additional 6-speed dual clutch powershift automatic transmission gearbox. However, in India EcoSport is likely to have three engine options- 1.0-litre EcoBoost, 1.5-litre petrol and 1.5-litre diesel engine.
Ford isn't as strong in China as its Amercian counter part General Motors in terms of market share, so the company must be expecting to change the trend with the EcoSport, which has done the same for the company in several markets. Ford has built the product in China itself in partnership with Chinese automaker Chan'gan, so to keep the product at a competitive price. The EcoSport's price will range between 94.800 yuan and 129.800 yuan.
After the launch of the product in China, India will be the next market to get it, where the marketing campaign 'EcoSport Discoveries' for the product has already begun. However, nothing on the launch has been disclosed by the company as of now, we hope the vehicle to come by April end or May first week.
