Datsun Hatchback likely to be Priced Under Rs 2 Lakh?
CarDekho has been constantly updating you on product line-up of Nissan's low cost car brand Datsun. In February, the company teased the first official picture of Datsun model, which suggested the front fascia to have angular headlights, a contoured hood and a small grille, however, the company preferred not to get into specifics of the car, it said that the model will have a "Strong independent brand identity". Recently, the company said to unveil the Dastun in India in July this year, before its official launch in 2014. Now Autocar UK claims that the first model in Datsun's line-up will be a five-door hatch, costing as less as £3500, which means lesser to Rs 2 lakh.

Datsun hatchback will most probably use the similar 1.2-litre, three-cylinder engine, fitted in the Micra. There might not be any diesel variant. The new small Datsun car will also share some of the platform features from its sibling Nissan Micra, however the car will be a completely different one. It will be adorn a fresh design, and will be a slightly smaller than that of the Nissan Micra, a company official reported earlier. So expect the Datsun hatchback to be very spacious.
Nissan has already announced that the Datsun will be a low cost car brand, having its focus on emerging markets like India, Indonesia, Russia and South Africa. So, it will be a global brands with the focus on local needs of every market.
