Audi India Steals the Title for Best Selling Luxury Car Brand from BMW
It is often said that all it takes is determination and focus for someone to achieve what their heart desires… Another company that proved this true is Audi India. Recently Audi overtook Mercedes-Benz and grabbed the position as the second highest selling luxury brand in India and now with the latest SIAM update, Audi has displaced the German auto carmaker, BMW as well, from its No1. position in India by selling 9 more units in the previous month. Last month in Indian luxury car market, Audi sold 759 vehicles and their rival BMW sold 750 units. This achievement is all the more noteworthy because they managed to achieve tremendous sales despite the slump that the high fuel prices and interest rates had caused.
The SIAM report states that the Audi sales for the first three months of this financial period have risen by 52.15% as compared to the previous year. Whereas, the sales of BMW have dipped by 12.16% and for Mercedes-Benz, sales have fallen by 24.41% as compared to last year. Another factor for Audi to rejoice is the fact that Audi’s sales last year June was 354 units and on the other BMW was way ahead with 890 units, clearly showing that Audi’s strategies and launching products like Audi A4, Audi Q3 etc. have done wonders for the brand.
The market leaders for 3 years, BMW will surely not keep quiet for long and we might witness a battle for supremacy like never-before. They will most definitely try and recapture the position once again with their upcoming launches of the new 3-series and the facelift of X1. Mercedes-Benz on the other hand, though selling more high-end cars in comparison to both the brands mentioned above, seems to be a little laid back as they haven’t done much to gain the top position in the recent past. With the new B-class in the couple of months, might actually change this point of view. This is one battle that we would all love to see because the end result of this race is sure to be an onset of ‘extremely good looking, powerful and efficient luxury cars’ in India.
