2020 Tata Tiago Spied Again With Altroz-inspired Front End

The 2020 Tiago, which takes design cues from Tata’s first-ever premium hatchback, the Altroz, is likely to be launched in early 2020

• The facelifted Tiago should be a petrol-only offering.

• Tata is expected to launch the refreshed Tiago hatchback in early 2020.

• Most likely to debut at the 2020 Auto Expo.

• Will continue to rival the likes of the Maruti WagonR, Hyundai Santro and Maruti Celerio.

• Prices could go up by around Rs 20,000 to Rs 30,000 because of BS6 compliance.

Tata Motors has been spotted testing the facelifted Tiago extensively in the past few months. It was spotted undergoing testing in Ladakh almost a month ago. Now, we have got our hands on fresh set of spy shots of the Tiago facelift and here is what we think:

In terms of design, the facelifted Tiago’s redesigned front fascia is inspired by the upcoming Tata Altroz. Its grille is bigger than before and it gets a pointier nose as well. Tata should continue to offer projector headlamps as before. The updated Tiago could also flaunt LED DRLs this time around. At the rear, the facelifted Tiago looks quite similar to the current pre-facelift model though a couple of changes to the bumper are likely.

The Tiago facelift should be offered with the BS6 1.2-litre petrol unit which produces 85PS of max power and 114Nm of peak torque in the pre-facelift model. As per Tata’s announcement to axe the diesel engines, the facelifted Tiago is quite unlikely to be offered with the BS6 iteration of the 1.05-litre diesel engine. So, it is set to become a petrol-only offering.

Inside, it has already received a new digital instrument cluster recently which looks pretty similar to the one offered on the Renault Triber and the facelifted Kwid. Other features like auto climate control, alloy wheels, and the 7-inch infotainment system with Android Auto and Apple CarPlay will be carried forward. Expect a few more additions to its equipment list. 

The facelifted Tiago is likely to be launched in early 2020. It will continue to go up against the likes of the Hyundai Santro, Maruti WagonR and the Maruti Celerio.
