MG commenced its operations in India with the Hector that has managed to strike a chord among buyers. The British marque’s second offering for our market is an all-electric SUV dubbed the ZS EV. The electric SUV was unveiled in India on December 5 and is slated for an early-2020 launch. The only missing link in the puzzle is the price, which will be revealed during the launch. Meanwhile, here are the top 5 features from the ZS EV: 

PM 2.5 filter 

MG is offering the ZS EV with a single zone climate control aircon along with a PM 2.5 air filter. This maintains the air quality inside the cabin irrespective of the air condition outside. Anything above PM 2.5 is not ideal for our body. So, the ZS EV’s aircon system monitors and maintains air quality at all times so you don’t have to worry about the pollution. 

Panoramic sunroof 

One of the main talking points of the Hector is its massive dual-pane sunroof and MG has decided to offer the same in the ZS EV. The glass extends over 90 per cent of the ZS EV’s roof lending it an airy and spacious vibe -- so much so that they are calling it the sky roof. The front section of the glass roof can slide open while there is also a sliding cover if you prefer to keep it shut completely. 

i-Smart EV 2.0 

MG’s connected features are collectively called i-Smart. What the i-Smart EV 2.0 offers are functions like battery, range, charging status, charging station info, range alert, and voice recognition. The system comes with a 5G-ready M2M sim with support for Over The Air updates (OTA). The list of connected features is huge with the highlights being Wi-Fi connectivity, Gaana premium account, smart drive, geofencing, remote vehicle control and navigation. 

8-inch touchscreen 

The standout feature in the cabin is the 20.32cm HD touchscreen infotainment system, which works in conjunction with the i-Smart EV 2.0. The infotainment system shows you a wide range of information, from the usual media to the battery status. It also shows you the climate control AC menu along with the air quality index. The same unit also doubles up as the navigation unit. Furthermore, it also shows the amount of CO2 saved every time you drive the MG ZS EV.

DC fast-charging capabilities 

The ZS EV is powered by an all-electric motor that produces 143PS and 353Nm. It draws power from a 44.5kWh IP67 battery pack that is mounted on the floor of the SUV. As for fast charging, by making use of a DC fast charger, the ZS EV can charge up to 80 per cent of its capacity in just an hour. These 50kw fast chargers are installed at select MG dealerships. Meanwhile, for home-charging solutions, you can get a 7.4kw wall-mounted AC fast charger, which will fully charge the ZS EV in 6-8 hours.
