Tata Motors Passenger Car Business Unit adopts Delhi Government’s Narela ITI
Tata Motors has signed a Memorandum of Understanding with the Delhi Government to adopt the Narela Industrial Training Institute (ITI), to introduce Mechanic Motor Vehicle (MMV) and Diesel Mechanic (DM) trades. The signing ceremony was graced by the Chief Minister of Delhi, Mrs. Sheila Dixit, and senior officers of the Delhi Government on November 8, 2011. In addition to the regular syllabus prescribed by the National Council of Vocational training (NCVT), Tata Motors will also introduce topics relevant to the automobile industry.
As part of the tie-up, Tata Motors will install appropriate equipment at the ITI. Teachers of the institute will undergo refresher courses at the training centres of the company’s Passenger car Business Unit. Besides, experts from the company’s suppliers will be brought to the institute to facilitate courses on specific subjects. Students, completing the course, will be placed with Tata Motors dealerships as apprentices.
Upon completion, successful candidates will be offered employment with dealer workshops. This tie–up is part of Tata Motors’ goal to develop appropriately skilled manpower to facilitate the growth of the automobile industry in India. The company’s passenger car business unit will take the initiative forward with similar tie-ups with ITIs across the country.
