Tata Manza compact sedan: more details emerge

The Tata Manza compact sedan is speculated to be launched in the near future, with 460 liter boot space cut down from the outgoing Tata Manza sedan to make it a small sedan car. With the lesser length, the compact sedan will be priced lower, due to the lower excise duty that is levied based on the length of the car. The Tata Manza smaller version will be shorter by 4000 mm compared to the current model.

The Tata Manza CS looks authentic in its cropped looks against any other compact sedans, which look more like the rear end has been added as an after-thought. While no major difference can be noted between the two versions, the compact sedan and the outgoing Tata Manza; one could make out the distinction with a closer look. The Tata Manza CS looks taller in height, providing more head space for the passengers occupying the rear seat. Despite the 413 mm slashed down from the length to emerge out as a compact sedan, the Tata Manza CS claims to have more boot space than any other compact sedans available in the market. However, no change in the mechanical parts and wheelbase is reported.

As for the Tata Manza specifications, the compact sedan houses a 1368 cc Safire 90 petrol engine and 1248 cc Quadrajet 90 diesel engine that are capable of producing the same peak power output of 90 PS. Due to a regulation that states that any car under 400 m cannot be equipped with an engine greater than 1.2 liter, abiding to which, the Tata Manza compact sedan cannot be powered with a 1.4 liter petrol engine. Hence, the Tata Manza CS might only come affixed with a 1.2 liter Safire 65 petrol engine.

With the Tata Manza price placed between Rs 3.59 lakhs and Rs 7.67 lakhs, the Tata Manza price for the compact variant is likely to be Rs 40,000 lesser than the current Tata Manza price, due to the lower excise duty levied on the shorter cars.
