Three years ago, Volkswagen came up with a seven-seater SUV concept called the 'CrossBlue'; and today, we witnessed the car in flesh. Spy pictures of the vehicle have surfaced on the Internet much before Volkswagen would have wanted us to see the SUV. This SUV, dubbed as the Teramont, will be placed between the upcoming Touareg and the Tiguan.

As a concept, the car was beefy looking, which has resulted in an almost similar production design. The car is long and boxy in shape, with muscular wheel arches and a good-looking front face. The grille is almost the same as the concept – a two-slat sleek portion which houses headlights at the ends. The front bumper is a meaty unit which gives the car a bold look. The rear taillights from the concept have been replaced by more practical production units. Also, a horizontal chrome strip has been added at the rear, which runs along the entire boot gate.

Inside, the SUV looks plush and premium. There is a large touchscreen infotainment system sitting on top of the dashboard, between the piano-black AC vents. The steering wheel is a three-spoke flat-bottom unit with mounted controls for added convenience. The interiors have been given a black-beige theme, which gives the SUV a luxurious feel. Legroom at the rear is ample, with command switches for the front seats. The rear seats seem to be wrapped in a maroon shade of leather, which is in contrast with the front seats.

The badge at the rear reads 'V6', which means that the car could be running on a 3.6-litre FSI V6 petrol engine from the 2016 Volkswagen Passat, which could be producing around 275PS of power. This SUV has been purpose-built for North America and China, but could very soon be sold in other regions of the world. Chances of this SUV coming to India are slim, but we can still be hopeful. However, you can always have a look at our upcoming cars section to know, which are the next car models ready for launch.
