The world leader in hybrid cars, Toyota Motors is now all set to launch the Camry hybrid in India by end of this month. Hybrid version of the flagship car Hybrid will be top-of-the line variant, which will be priced around Rs. 35 lakh (ex-showroom, Delhi). The company is also planning to start the assembly of its hybrid cars in India to bring down their cost.

Toyota already sells Prius hybrid in two different variants Z5 and Z6 for Rs. 29.25 lakh and Rs. 31.42 lakh (ex-showroom, Delhi) respectively. However, the company could only sell around 175 units of the Prius since its launch in January 2010. So, local assembly of the car might help the company price them competitive and increase their sales.

Other than the Camry hybrid, the company is also planning to roll out the Etios hybrid in India; however, there is no official confirmation about the launch time of the later. And what makes us so sure about the launch of Toyota Camry Hybrid is the fact that the vehicle was caught testing in India some days back.

Except the mechanical changes, Hybrid Camry will also look slightly different than the non-hybrid version of the car, courtesy a different set of lighting, new grille and fog lamps. The car might also come with a larger 17-inch of alloy wheel sets.

The Camry hybrid will come up with electric + petrol system, and will offer three driving modes to buyers- fully electric, fully petrol and petrol + electric. A 2.5-litre goasoline engine will be adjoined to a 650-volt electric motors that mated to a electronic continuously variable transmission (e-CVT) will produce 190bhp.

The company would be assembling the Camry Hybrid at its Bangalore based facility. This is all what we have for now, stay tuned to CarDekho for all the latest updates on the same. Cheers!
