The Czech carmaker achieved this feat a month earlier than it had in the previous year

On November 23, 2016, Skoda surpassed the mark of one million vehicle deliveries in 2016. The Czech carmaker has achieved this feat for the third year in a row and one month earlier than it did in 2015. Its top-model, Skoda Superb, made a considerable contribution, crossing 1,15,000 deliveries around the world, from January to mid-November 2016. This translates to an increase of 85.2 per cent compared to its numbers in 2015.

On this achievement, Bernhard Maier, CEO, Skoda said, “The current financial year shows that ŠKODA can sustainably tap into new customer segments with a modern model range on the international markets. We will also continue our growth course in 2017. The new ŠKODA KODIAQ is going to play an important role in this; the model will expand our range in the growing SUV segment.”

Apart from the Superb sedan, smaller cars such as Fabia and the Rapid have shown a positive trend as well. Deliveries for these models increased by 6.7 per cent and 7.0 per cent respectively, over the same period. At the heart of the company’s achievement is its most renowned nameplates, the Octavia. It made the most significant contribution as Skoda clocked 3,61,700 deliveries globally.

Skoda is gearing up to conquer the world of SUVs in 2017 as it readies itself to launch the highly-anticipated Kodiaq. Being the company’s first large SUV, Kodiaq will open up new customer groups around the world. In some countries, orders for the Kodiaq are already being entertained and the first batch of deliveries will commence in February 2017.
