Mercedes-AMG CLE 53 Launched In India At A Price Tag Of Rs 1.35 Crore

 The CLE 53 is the first CLE coupe in Mercedes-AMG’s India lineup

• The AMG CLE 53 has a coupe design with sporty elements like a hood scoop, forked air intakes, bootlip spoiler and 20-inch alloy wheels.

• Inside, it gets an all black cabin theme with sporty bucket seats, a flat-bottom steering wheel and turbine-like AC vents.

• Top features include an 11.9-inch touchscreen, a 12.3-inch digital driver’s display and a 17-speaker Burmester 3D audio system.

Mercedes-AMG CLE 53 has been launched in India, priced at Rs 1.35 crore (ex-showroom, pan-India). This is the second addition to the CLE lineup besides the existing Cabriolet. The CLE 53 gets powered by a single 3-cylinder inline 6 engine, which puts up a claimed top speed of 270 kmph. 

Besides the supposed performance it is identified for, the CLE 53 also comes with a stylish look and premium features. We detail that in the next section:

Design

The front of this Mercedes-AMG CLE 53 has a rather aggressive face with a large black Panamericana grille featuring vertical slats. Keen-eyed viewers can also spot an ‘AMG’ badge on the front grille as well as a functional hood scoop. It gets stylish, sleek LED projector headlights, and the bumper has big air intakes on both sides. 

The CLE 53 has a coupe profile with a sloping roofline and a long bonnet. The black multi-spoke 20-inch alloy wheels, low-slung stance, and forked air intakes add to its performance identity. There is a ‘Turbo’ badging and gloss-black trim accents on the fenders. The door handle gets a chrome finish with the doors flanked by frameless windows. 

Besides the Sun Yellow hue you see in the image, it gets five other colour options: Patagonia Red Metallic, Spectral Blue, Opalite White, Alpine Grey, and Obsidian Black. There are two other colour options (Spectral Blue Magno and Graphite Grey) which are available for an extra cost.

The rear looks stylish with slim LED tail lights connected by a black panel. The integrated lip spoiler on the boot lid adds to its character, while the black rear diffuser houses round quad exhaust tips, two on each side.

Interior

As you step inside, the cabin feels familiar to other AMG models, carrying the same sporty touch with an all-black theme. It features black leather upholstery, front bucket seats, Alcantara leather finishes on the dashboard and door panels, AMG floor mats, and a panoramic sunroof.

The dashboard houses a portrait-style 11.9-inch infotainment display that flows into the centre console. It has a glossy surface, five turbine-like AC vents with silver surrounds, and some storage spaces in the centre bridge, along with cupholders.

Access to the rear seats might be a bit challenging for taller occupants. The seats feature contrast red stitching that complements the sporty look, while ambient lighting spans across the width of the dashboard and along the door panels.

The AMG CLE 53 gets premium features like an 11.9-inch infotainment, wireless Apple CarPlay/Android Auto, a 12.3-inch digital driver’s display, a 17-speaker Burmester audio system with Dolby support, powered and ventilated seats with memory function, a head-up display, wireless phone charger, dual-zone auto AC and a powered tailgate with gesture control.

Its safety suite includes features such as 8 airbags, electronic stability control (ESC), a tyre pressure monitoring system, a 360-degree camera and advanced driver assistance system (ADAS) functions like active brake assist, auto-parking assist and blind spot monitoring.
