Citan, the brand new mini-van in making looks like another strong product by Mercedes Benz. This new mini-van by Mercedes-Benz is expected to be based on the Nissan Evalia (Nissan NV200). Of late, the official sketches of Citan were unveiled by Mercedes-Benz way before its debut, which is scheduled to take place at the very prominent IAA Commercial Vehicle Show in Hannover in the month of September 2012.

Mercedes Benz is calling Citan as the urban delivery van, which is likely to go on sale by the end of 2012. Mercedes Benz hasn’t given out any official word about its mini-van Citan, but, this German auto giant earlier did mentioned that it is developing a small van in collaboration with Renault-Nissan.

Indeed, under this collaboration, these three auto giants will work further on projects for small vans and cars, which will begin from platform development and will go upto powertrain sharing. Coming back to Mercedes Benz Citan, this mini-van is yet another offshoot of Nissan Evalia, which made its first appearance at the 2012 Auto Expo in New Delhi.

Even Ashok Leyland’s Stile has a striking resemblance to Nissan NV200, while the electric version of the Nissan NV200 was displayed at the Detroit Motor Show 2012. Hitherto, Mercedes Benz has been tight lipped on the details of Citan’s engine and other highlighting features, but as there is a lot of resemblance between Citan and Nissan Evalia, the Mercedes Benz Citan might feature 1.5 litre of dCi engine, which would provide Citan a fine tune.
