Bentley Motors debuts the new Continental GT3-R in the icy north of Finland. The ice driving concept returns in the Power on Ice 2015 four day event that allows Bentley guests to drive on a frozen ice track beyond the limitations of everyday roads. The GT3-R will make its extreme debut in the hands of Juha Kankkunen, who is a four-time World Rally Champion and two-time ice speed record breaker. With engineers taking inspiration from the mental Continental GT3 race car, this very rare GT3-R is a mixture of proven track ability and the brand’s well-known luxury prowess. Only 300 units will be ever produced for the Continental GT3-R.

The GT3-R sports the lightest V8 of the entire range, shaving off nearly 100 kilograms by the use of carbon fibre, a titanium exhaust and omission of rear seats. The engine develops 572bhp of maximum power at 6,000rpm and 700Nm of peak torque from as low as 1,700rpm. Also the ride height has been lowered thus bringing down the centre of gravity enhancing swift directional changes. The Bentley Continental GT3-R sports an 8-speed Quickshift transmission which enables this extreme GT car to touch 100kmph from a standstill in 3.8 seconds.

Advanced torque vectoring allows the drive train to manage torque at individual rear wheel. Air springs and dampers use a development of the sports-tuned setup from the Continental V8 S, already recognised as the best-handling Bentley ever, while lightweight forged 21 inch wheels and high-grip Pirelli tyres  The interior cossets the driver and passenger with Alcantara and Beluga hide sports seats.

Power on Ice 2015 will allow guests to drive a selection of Continental GTs and Flying Spurs on ice and sharpen their skills. The intense cold is kept at bay by luxurious hand trimmed heated leather seats. The sophisticated four-wheel drive system equipped in the Bentleys constantly shifts the power depending upon the amount of grip present. Bentley has also arranged for snowmobile rides and ice-karting for guests looking for something else than bashing Continentals around on sheath ice.
