BS-IV Compliant Ambassador Launching by June-end, says Official

Excited from the company's performance in the first four months of this year, C K Birla group's automobile company Hindustan Motors has now officially said to launch the BS4 Compliant Ambassador by June-end. The company which was struggling to do well in the year 2012, now reports that the company has recorded a 90.71 per cent growth in April. HM sold a total 534 units as against 280 units sold in the corresponding month, last year.

Not just in April, the home-grown auto major registered 104.37 percent, 166.5 percent and 24.33 percent in January, February and March respectively, as against the same months, a year ago.
 
Speaking on the company's positive growth, Hindustan Motors' managing director & CEO, Uttam Bose said, "Operational excellence, improvement in quality based on customer feedback and foraying into remote markets, which were hitherto untapped, are some of the measures which have contributed to the rise in HM's sales during the past four months." While the Indian automotive industry is facing a slowdown due to unfavourable economic condition, HM believes it all happened due to operational excellence and quality improvement on customer feedback.
 
"The growth is all the more encouraging as it is happening despite a general downturn in the passenger car segment across the country. We know that challenges like general economic slowdown, high interest rates and low buyer sentiment are quite formidable for the entire automobile industry, especially the passenger car segment. However, HM is all set to introduce its BS IV-compliant Ambassador by June-end.", he further added.
 
HM has been also working on a new compact version of the Ambassador, which is likely to be rolled out by the end of this year. Since the vehicle will be sub-4 meter in length, it will enjoy the excise duty benefits. So, expect the Compact Ambassador to be priced around Rs 4 lakh.
