Bentley's First SUV Bentayga Spied Near Arctic Circle

Bentley’s first SUV Bentayga was recently spied when it was undergoing testing near Arctic Circle with bare minimum camouflage. The car will enter in production by 2016 and will be available for sale by 2017 in selected countries. Based on parent company Volkswagen’s new MLB Evo platform (Recently used in new Audi Q7) and EXP 9 F concept, the SUV will compete with the likes of Porsche Cayenne and Range Rover Evoque.

According to the company, the upcoming new SUV will be "world's most powerful and luxurious SUV. As seen in the pictures, the prototype model gets signatory Bentley's front grille, bigger headlamps and stylish rear taillamp cluster. Though images of interior are not yet available, but previous shots have revealed that the SUV gets circular air vents, digital instrument cluster, bigger touchscreen display along with individual rear seats.

Though engine specs are kept under the cover, it is most likely to be powered by 4.0-litre twin turbo V8 engine. The Bentayga will also be offered with V8 diesel engine which is confirmed by Bentley’s CEO Wolfgang Dürheimer. If reports are to be believed, the SUV will also house a bigger 6.0-litre W12 engine while in 2017, a plug-in hybrid version is also expected.  

Bentley has also released a video which shows the SUV been tested in the sand dunes of some desert, highlighting its off-roading feature and includes the soundtrack of the engine.
