Here’s how MG Motor offers peace of mind ownership with their first-ever product in India
MG Motor India entered the market with the launch of their new SUV, the Hector. It is a well-equipped model with plenty of segment-first features on offer such as the internet-enabled infotainment system powered by i-Smart software which allows for various connected car technologies and remote functionality. The Hector is also the first in its segment to offer a mild-hybrid powertrain variant for added fuel efficiency, bridging the gap between the petrol and diesel engine options.
However, MG has done more than just offer a great car at reasonable prices -- it is also offering an impressive after-sales package as standard to ensure peace-of-mind ownership. It is called the MG Shield and here’s everything it has to offer:
1| 5 Years/ Unlimited Kilometres Warranty
The Hector comes with a segment-leading 5-year comprehensive warranty as standard for unlimited kilometres. Under this plan, the 12V/48V battery and tyres are covered for 1 year, while the 10.4-inch touchscreen infotainment system is covered for 3 years. In the case of commercial use, the warranty coverage extends for upto 5 years and 1.5-lakh kilometres, whichever comes sooner.
2| 5 Years/ Unlimited Kilometres Road-side Assistance
Along with the warranty, the Hector also comes with a 5-year/ unlimited kilometre coverage for their roadside assistance features. That includes 24x7 emergency assistance via Pulse Hub, on-the-spot repairs with trained technicians, towing assistance and medical assistance too.
If you happen to run out of fuel or your battery has died and need a jump start, the MG road side assistance will help with that too. MG will also assist you in case you lose your car keys by some chance -- for example, they fell out while you were on a hike or out camping. There is also the option of a courtesy car being delivered to you in case your Hector is not road ready but it depends on the availability from your nearest MG dealer.
You can call for MG’s roadside assistance services using the i-SMART app for your Hector SUV or simply by calling Pulse Hub as well.
3| 5 Labour Free Services
MG will not charge any labour costs that may be incurred in the first five scheduled services of your Hector SUV. If you want to save on your regular maintenance costs even more, check out MG’s protect plans below.
4| Maintenance Protect Plans Starting At Rs 8,000
MG is also offering maintenance packages for the new Hector SUV to cover all scheduled costs in advance. These packages allow owners to keep their Hectors secure beyond the 5-year comprehensive warranty that the carmaker is already offering as standard.
The maintenance packages are available for private owners only. There are two types of maintenance plans to choose from depending on what costs are covered and for what duration. Here is the price plan for all:
Petrol |
Classic |
3-years/ 30,000km |
Rs 8,000 |
5-years/ 50,000km |
Rs 13,000 |
Premium |
3 years/ 30,000km |
Rs 30,000 |
5-years/ 50,000km |
Rs 55,000 |
|
Diesel |
Classic |
3-years/ 45,000km |
Rs 15,000 |
5-years/ 75,000km |
Rs 28,000 |
Premium |
3-years/ 45,000km |
Rs 50,000 |
5-years/ 75,000km |
Rs 80,000 |
MG’s Classic plan covers all scheduled maintenance costs while the Premium plan also covers wear and tear costs. However, neither of these two plans cover any extra costs in relation to tyre wear, battery or collisions.
5| Assured Buyback Program
MG is also offering a special buyback program with the Hector powered by CarDekho. If availed, it will assure Hector owners of a buyback value that is 60 percent of the original ex-showroom price after a period of three years. This buyback program, known as the 3-60 program (3 years, 60 per cent of ex-showroom price) is coupled with the above mentioned maintenance plans. Here are the choices available:
Plan Name |
Petrol for 3-year/30,000km |
Diesel for 3-year/45,000km |
Classic 3-60 |
Rs 40,000 |
Rs 50,000 |
Premium 3-60 |
Rs 65,000 |
Rs 85,000 |
Both the maintenance and the 3-60 assured buyback plans need to be availed at the time of buying a new MG Hector.
6| Best-in-Segment Cost of Ownership
The cost of owning and maintaining a Hector SUV can be as affordable as Rs 0.45p per kilometre for a petrol variant and Rs 0.49p per kilometre for a diesel variant. That’s the lowest ownership cost you’ll find in the mid-size SUV segment today.
The MG Hector is offered in four variants, with three engine options in total: a turbo-petrol, turbo-petrol with mild-hybrid technology and a diesel unit. It is priced between Rs 12.18 lakh to Rs 16.88 lakh (ex-showroom, pan-India). The Hector also happens to be the most affordable petrol-automatic in its segment which uses a 6-speed dual-clutch transmission. At those prices with the MG Shield coverage, the Hector SUV is not just a feature-loaded car but an attractive package overall.
