Mahindra and Mahindra is a popular automaker that has offered a wide range of vehicles in the country's car market. Among these, Scorpio is a successful SUV model that has huge number of buyers. The company has now introduced its latest version with two diesel engine options. Among the variants available, Mahindra Scorpio S6 7 Seater is a mid range diesel trim that is equipped with a 2.2-litre motor. It is paired with a five speed manual transmission gear box and returns a mileage of about 15.4 Kmpl. There are a lot of changes made to the exteriors which gives it a refreshing look. The front facade has a revamped bumper, aggressive radiator grille and a newly designed headlight cluster. The rear profile includes a trendy tail light cluster and body colored bumper, while the side profile remains unchanged. On the other hand, its interiors includes an advanced 2-DIN audio unit and an attractive instrument cluster. Apart from these, it is bestowed with standard aspects like well cushioned seats, HVAC unit, power steering wheel, roof lamp and a few others. This vehicle is loaded with some crucial safety aspects like speed alert, side intrusion beams as well as child safety locks that ensures maximum protection of its passengers. It receives tough competition from Tata Safari, Renault Duster and a few others in the SUV segment. The company is offering it in two new colors, which are Molten Red and Regal Blue apart from the existing Mist Silver, Fiery Black and Diamond White body paint options. Interiors:
This SUV is blessed with a roomy cabin that is packed with a number of stylish aspects. It accommodates seven people with ease, while offering ample leg as well as head room to its occupants. The seats are well cushioned and covered with high quality fabric upholstery. The neatly designed dashboard houses an instrument cluster, steering wheel and a center console that is further fitted with an infotainment system . The steering wheel looks attractive with company's logo embossed on it. The instrument panel is equipped with low fuel consumption display, seat belt warning lamp and a few other notifications for the convenience of driver. There are 12V power sockets available in the front and middle row seats that are useful for charging mobile phones. The cabin includes some utility based aspects as well like cup holders, glove box compartment, sun visors and some other such features.
Engine and Performance:
The car maker has powered this Mahindra Scorpio S6 7 Seater variant with a 2.2-litre, mHawk diesel engine that has the ability to displace 2179cc . It has four cylinders, 16 valves and is based on a double overhead camshaft valve configuration. It can churn out a peak power of 120bhp at 4000rpm. It generates a maximum torque output of 280Nm that ranges between 1800 to 2800rpm, which is quite good for the Indian road conditions. This vehicle is capable of delivering a maximum mileage of 15.4 Kmpl when driven on highways, which is rather decent. This mill is coupled with a five speed manual transmission gear box that transmits torque output to its front wheels.
Braking and Handling:
The manufacturer has introduced it with a reliable braking system. There are a set of ventilated disc brakes fitted to its front wheels, while drum brakes used for the rear ones. On the other hand, its front axle is assembled with a double wishbone independent suspension, while a multi link type of system is used for the rear one with anti roll bar. Both these axles are also loaded with coil springs and hydraulic double acting telescopic shock absorbers, which enhances this mechanism. It is incorporated with a tilt adjustable power assisted steering system, which supports a minimum turning radius of 5.6 meters.
Comfort Features:
This mid range variant is blessed with a 2-DIN audio unit that has a CD player and supports auxiliary input as well as USB port. The cabin includes an HVAC (heating, ventilation and air conditioning) unit along with rear air vents. The first row seats have individual armrests, while there is center armrest in the second row seat. Apart from these, it comes with a remote fuel lid opener, headlamp leveling switch, rear demister and voice assist system that enhances the comfort levels.
Safety Features:
This stylish Mahindra Scorpio S6 7 Seater variant is loaded with many safety aspects. Some of these include digital engine immobilizer, child safety locks, collapsible steering wheel, anti theft warning, speed alert, auto door lock while driving and seat belt reminder lamp.
