    Gensol EV teaser

The ultra-compact electric mobility space in India has seen many attempts from names big and small. Now, one more is ready to try and make an impact and it goes by the name of Gensol. The company has released a teaser for its first EV, set to make its debut in March 2024. Here’s what we know about this mystery EV so far:

Built For The City - Size & Range

The upcoming Gensol EV is a 2-door, 2-seater offering aimed primarily at the tight and hectic driving environment of fast-growing cities and metros. Even the promised range and stated top speed of 200 km and 80 kmph, respectively, mean it’s best suited for city use.

Interestingly, while unconfirmed, the teaser suggests that this is not even a 4-wheel offering, and is instead a 3-wheeler with just a single wheel at the back. This would certainly give it a distinctive road presence.

    Packed With Premium Features

Like the MG Comet EV, Gensol’s 2-seater EV will not shy away from offering a premium cabin experience. It will be equipped with a single-pane sunroof, a digital instrument cluster, and a decently sized touchscreen infotainment system. The Gensol EV even gets LED DRLs and styled wheels.

    India-made

The Gensol EV will be manufactured at the company’s facility in Pune which also features an in-plant testing track. It is unclear how heavily the battery pack and electric motor will be localised, though that would certainly help keep the costs low.

While something as small as the upcoming Gensol EV is not a replacement for a conventional car, it can certainly serve as an additional vehicle for city commutes while reducing one’s carbon footprint.
