The Global Pik Up is a pickup truck concept based on the Mahindra Scorpio N that was showcased in 2023

  • The Mahindra Global Pik Up follows the same design language as the Mahindra Scorpio N but goes overboard with the rugged design.

  • A production-spec version of the pick-up will likely be toned down in terms of design.

  • Will likely use an updated version of the 2.2-litre diesel engine from the Scorpio N.

  • May be launched in India in 2026.

The Scorpio N-based Mahindra Global Pik Up made its global debut in August 2023 in South Africa, though only as a kitted-out concept. Then, in November 2023, Mahindra also filed a design patent for the Scorpio N-based pickup. And now, Mahindra has trademarked a new nameplate in India: Scorpio X. While it is not yet confirmed which Mahindra model will carry this name, speculation suggests it could be the moniker for the production-ready version of the Mahindra Global Pik Up.

In addition to the Scorpio X, whose trademark status reads as approved, Mahindra had also applied for several other name trademarks around the same time, including:

  • Scorpio K

  • Scorpio L

  • Scorpio M

  • Scorpio Z

Mahindra applied for all of these name trademarks in May 2022, but they are still pending approval.

Let’s take a brief look at what we know about the Mahindra’s upcoming pickup truck so far.

Scorpio N Inspired Design

Mahindra Global Pik Up

The Mahindra Global Pik Up concept follows the same design language as the Scorpio N, with a similar fascia, including the same headlight design. However, the design of the LED DRLs and the front bumper have been revised. Additionally, it sports a snorkel mounted alongside the driver’s side A-pillar. Even in the design patent filed by Mahindra, the Global Pik Up maintains the same design language as the concept but a market-ready version will of course be less “extreme”. If the Scorpio X does happen to be a Mahindra pickup for the public, it will utilise the updated version of the mHawk 2.2-litre diesel engine employed in the Scorpio N. The pickup truck will also be offered with four-wheel-drive (4WD) . For reference, the Scorpio N's 2.2-litre diesel engine produces 175 PS and up to 400 Nm in its higher state of tune, and is paired with either a 6-speed manual transmission or a 6-speed automatic transmission.

Expected Launch & Rivals

Though there is no official confirmation of the Mahindra Scorpio X, the potential pick-up model could arrive in India by 2026. Mahindra could price it from Rs 25 lakh (ex-showroom pan India). In India, it will be an alternative to the Isuzu V-Cross and Toyota Hilux
