Kia Issues Recall For The Carens After Possible Instrument Cluster Glitch

Modified On Jun 27, 2023 12:37 PM By Shreyash for Kia Carens

This is the second recall for the Kia Carens since its launch

  • The MPV is being recalled for a possible bug in the digital instrument cluster.

  • The bug could cause the cluster to go blank when starting up.

  • The carmaker may provide Carens owners a complimentary software update.

  • Kia will directly reach out to the owners of the affected vehicles.

A recall has been issued for some units of the Kia Carens, for inspection and rectification of a possible issue in the instrument cluster.

According to Kia, the digitised driver’s display in some units of the Carens might have a potential issue in the booting process, causing the cluster to go blank. To fix this, Kia will reach out to the owners of the affected vehicles, for them to set up an appointment with their respective dealerships for an inspection. Accordingly, the carmaker will also provide the fix with a complimentary software update.

Previous Recall

The Carens was also recalled in October 2022 for a possible error in the airbag control module (ACU). That issue, too, was fixed with a free-of-cost software update.

Passenger safety is taken care of by six airbags, ABS with EBD, electronic stability control (ESC), and a tyre pressure monitoring system (TPMS), all as standard in the Kia Carens.
