Honda Avancier

SUV lovers are in for a treat because Honda has unveiled its flagship SUV, the Avancier, at the 14th Beijing International Automotive Exhibition. The car will be available in the Chinese market by the year end. However, it is unclear whether the carmaker will export this model to other potential markets such as Europe and India.

Based on the Honda Concept D SUV, the Avancier stylistically resembles a coupe, courtesy its sloping rear windscreen. The car comes with projector headlamps, a skid plate and a thick chrome grille with the Honda badge in the center. The carmaker has carried the contrast skid plate to the rear profile as well, and it complements the sloping roofline with wrap-around tail lamps. Though the unveiled version did not reveal the interiors, Honda has released an image of the left-hand drive vehicle, and it sports a relatively large touchscreen, occupying the center of the dashboard.

The Avancier will get a 2.0-litre petrol engine sending power to all the four wheels. The engine will be mated to a nine-speed automatic gearbox. Honda might continue with the 2.4-litre mill (employed in the CR-V) for its base trim.

The car will strengthen the automaker’s SUV line-up since, for now, Honda only sells the CR-V and the HR-V in the Chinese market. The car will be placed above the CR-V, which is priced at Rs. 23.2 lakh (ex-showroom, India). With the Japanese carmaker launching the BR-V on 5 May 2016 in India, we hope the Avancier will be seen on Indian roads soon.
