Despite the sluggish pace of Indian economy, there have been certain popular compact car models which have done great business for the manufacturers. The compact segment cars have received enormous response from the Indian market, and have ultimately helped the car companies to sustain the blues of the slowdown. There are various arguments behind the success of these cars in the local market. Lets discuss few obvious reasons behind the popularity of these models.  One is the compact size which assist while driving in heavy traffic conditions in India. In terms of practicality, the compact structure have really worked well considering the over-populated Indian roads. These vehicles are highly rated also in terms of fuel efficiency, which is one of the direct factor that lures the Indian customers. These compact cars can be termed as “all-rounders”, and to base this tag, it can be said that such cars have got everything which is expected from any normal Indian car buyer. Honda Amaze

Honda Amaze- The journey of this compact sedan began as the first diesel model of Honda introduced in India. As of the current sales reports are considered, Honda has registered an impressive growth of 151 per cent in November 2013. And Amaze has played the role of chauffeur to drive the company's sales to such heights. The sales drastically increased from 3,711 units (November'12) to 9,332 units as posted in the month of November'13. While particularly the Amaze were sold at the count of 7598 units, which certainly proves its worth and popularity amongst the Indians. Honda's design philosophy and the engineering behind its engine performance, are two factors which are unbeatable. Being a diesel powered model, the i-DTEC engine offers dual benefits with fuel-efficiency of 25.8kmpl, and a class-leading power output of 98bhp. Last month, Amaze gathered a huge customer base with the bookings crossing 50,000 mark. This speaks for the compact sedan as being an 'One man Army' for Honda amidst the slow economy.

Hyundai Grand i10

Grand i10- It has not been a long time that Grand i10 walked into the Indian car market, it has already started coming in news. This hatch has gained a lot of popularity in less than 3 months of its introduction. The attraction towards Grand i10 is justified with the company selling 33,000 units within 90 days of its launch. Moreover, the positioning of the vehicle has also worked well in churning its sales across the nation. Hyundai pitches it between i10 and i20, which offers a features rich product at an affordable price.  Grand i10 is an all-new model with a stretched wheelbase and a frugal engine that promises a remarkable ride.  It uses the same 1.2- litre Kappa mill delivering power output of 82bhp which also duties the i20 petrol variant, while the diesel version gets 1.1-litre U2, 3-cylinder engine that generates 70bhp. Hyundai gathers all accolades in its pocket with Grand i10 entering into the list of top 5 Indian best selling car models.

New Maruti Swift Dzire

Maruti Swift Dzire- Maruti too hasn't blossomed this year, and with the challenging market conditions it has registered a negative growth by 10.7 per cent. Amongst its entire range of models, the only car which has posted some positive individual growth is Maruti Suzuki Dzire. With 13.2 per cent growth, 15286 units of Dzire were sold in November 2013 as against 13502 units in the corresponding month last year. It directly competes against the Honda's first ever diesel compact sedan, Amaze, which has been doing superb business for the company. Despite the fierce competition existing in the segment, the sales figures registered by Dzire certainly proves its worth in the market.

Ford EcoSport

Ford Ecosport- One of the most potential compact SUV, Ford Ecosport has successfully captured pretty good market share in India. The main factor behind its fame is the aggressive price tag at which it has arrived in India. The SUV has shown up with a starting price of Rs 5.82 lakh (ex-showroom, Delhi). Moreover, the Ford has not compromised with the off-road capability of the SUV, and it certainly gives a tough fight to its direct competitor Renault Duster in terms of performance. This is one such product which is affordable yet powerful to ride on.
