Indian automotive sector has been growing rapidly. The entire last year saw increase in car sales month after month, and this has been going on for the last 15 months. Sadly, the streak has been broken. Where 2-wheeler sales grew in January, 4-wheeler sales took a minor dive. The Indian auto industry sold 1,68,303 units in January 2016, 1,224 units less than 1,69,527 units sold in January 2015. This might have happened as a result of the recent price hike or the numerous upcoming cars which are worth waiting for. On the other hand, the sales of commercial vehicles rose to 61,683 units, registering a 17.5% rise.

Most of the upcoming cars were showcased at the Auto Expo. Among them, the cars which turned most heads was Vitara Brezza.Maruti’s latest SUV for the Indian market incorporates a lot of touches which are specifically designed for our country. The sub-compact SUV is built with 98% localization. Another car coming to India from Suzuki’s land will be Ignis. The mini-SUV sports masculine looks with a lot of new features inside the car.

During the unveiling of Brezza, Mr. Toshihiro Suzuki said, “In “Suzuki Next 100”, our mid-term management plan, India is positioned as the most important strategic market and production base. I am proud to introduce the brand new Vitara Brezza. It is developed under a unique process to design, with a special focus on the taste and values of Indian customers. You are going to love it.”

Mr. Kenichi Ayukawa said, “Vitara Brezza is true to its category of a compact urban SUV. It is muscular, bold and sporty, with a distinct presence. It offers style and glamour, and features and customisation never seen before in SUVs in India.” He added: “Built on a global Suzuki platform, Vitara Brezza has been conceptualized, designed and developed in India using Suzuki’s global development processes. We believe this model appeals to Indian customers in its design, packaging and features. Vitara Brezza is Maruti Suzuki’s symbol of Create in India.”
