Basecamp Launches Two Caravans in India at Rs 16 and 22 lakh
Mumbai based Basecamp that markets several travel equipment and outdoor sports accessories in India has yesterday launched first ever caravan range in New Delhi. In Collaboration with Germany based firms Hymer and Dethleffs, Basecamp has rolled out two models; Hymer Sporting 465 and Dethleffs New Line 410 TK priced at Rs 22 lakh and 16 lakh, excluding taxes, respectively. As of now both the caravans would be imported from Germany and later they might be manufactured in India as well seeing the response around.

Basecamap has already been selling a various international brands like Victorinox, Maglite and Wegner in India, is now aiming to sell about 600 caravans within next one year. Speaking on the occasion, Anish Goel, MD-Basecam said: “In the first year, we plan to sell 600 units. If we could sell around this number then it would be very encouraging for us,”
Commenting on the possibility of manufacturing the Caravans in India, he further said:“First we will look at assembling here. Later, we would like to manufacture these caravans here, so that prices could be brought down so that we could cater to a large market,”
The company has already invested around Rs 10 crore and plans to invest more to set up sales and other related infrastructure to expand the caravan segment in India. These caravans would be delivered in 45-90 days from the time of order, Goel informs.
The company has also informed that it has made its ties with Bharat Petroleum Corporation Ltd (BPCL) and Haryana Tourism corporation to promote the caravan segment. While BPCL would offer the parking facilities for caravans at some of their petrol stations based out on Highways, Haryana tourism would offer parking slots at its Yatri Niwas compounds.
