Audi to Release Q8 as the Brand’s Flagship SUV
Not long ago, we had covered a story on Audi planning on creating an ‘even numbered’ range of SUVs for the future and this German auto giant has already trademarked this series of new names. The name Q8 was also registered which as per logic, is expected to sit above the much favored and applauded Audi Q7. More speculated details on the future Audi Q8 SUV have emerged on the interweb which state that this neoteric SUV will find base on the new MLB platform. Also, all the technologies that are supposed to make the future model of Q7 lighter than the present one are expected to benefit the Audi Q8 which will ultimately make the future Q8 comprise of 60 percent of steel and 40 percent of aluminum like materials which are light in weight.
The engine speculated to power this future SUV is the same engine that is rendering serviced in the Audi Q7; the new four-cylinder base engine is however expected to go amiss from the engine options. The final drivetrains powering the Audi Q8 SUV would include the two V6 petrol engines that are capable of pumping out a peak power of 230bhp and 300bhp, a V6 TDI engine that generates a peak power of 250bhp and last but not the least a 4.2L V8 engine that drives a peak power of 400bhp. Despite the S version – powered by the 4.0L V8 engine with a peak power of 550bhp, Audi would also be releasing a hybrid version of the car which derives power from the combination of a couple of electric motors and V6 TDI engine. The launch of the Audi Q8 is anticipated to fall somewhere in the year 2015 and this SUV is also expected to emerge as the arch nemesis of the Mercedes Benz GL Class.
