    2015 Dodge Challenger Drag Pak revealed

    American muscle carmaker Dodge and Mopar took the wraps off their 2015 Challenger Drag Pak, in the form of a prototype version. To be displayed alongside a 1968 Dodge Dart HEMI package car, at the Mopar's stall during the NHRA U.S. Nationals event this weekend, the vehicle is built exclusively for drag racing.

    2015 Dodge Challenger Drag Pak revealed

    The inside-out of the new drag racer is based on the updated 2015 Challenger's SRT-model, but with some Mopar motorsport-dedicated enhancements. The vehicle has received a white body, garnished by a vintage stripe package and wears the "426 HEMI" badging. It also comes equipped with custom gauges, driver and passenger lightweight racing seats, safety nets, harnesses and a roll cage. Sitting on 15-inch wheels with 28-inch front & 30-inch rear drag-style tires, the vehicle's front suspension has the 2015 Mopar K-Member and strut suspension geometry with front struts featuring adjustable compression and rebound. Whereas, a four-link setup with a Panhard bar, rear solid axle with 9-inch aluminum third member, rear shocks with adjustable compression and rebound, and an anti-sway bar does the duty at the rear. The braking power of the car comes from Precision Performance rotors, calipers and master cylinder.

    Powered by a race-oriented 7.0-litre (426 cubic inches) HEMI V-8 mill, featuring an aluminum block, bespoke calibration and steel liners. The engine is coupled to a Chrysler-based 727 automatic transmission, that comes equipped with a race-style stick shifter with integral line lock. And the drive goes to the rear wheels of the car, via an aluminum driveshaft.

    Though, these figures, specifications and details are preliminary and still being evaluated, as this is just a prototype. Furthermore, the muscle car's final details are still pending for various legal approvals.
