2012 Chevrolet Cruze Launch, Phase 2 at Mumbai

After the first phase of launch at New Delhi, Chevrolet Cruze drives into Mumbai today. The 2012 Chevrolet Cruze price in showrooms of Mumbai for the base model LT is Rs. 14.53 Lakhs, LTZ, manual transmission is Rs. 15.49 and for the automatic LTZ the price is set at Rs. 16.44 Lakhs. The new Cruze has been in news for quite some time now and was eagerly awaited for. Chevrolet Cruze has always been seen as one of the most powerful and an efficient vehicle from the stables of GM and with the new model, this belief is further strengthened.

As already stated in our previous news coverage, there hasn’t been much change in the exteriors and interiors of the car, the tweaks have been made to the engine. The engine is the same 2.0 litre VCDi with difference being in the displacement, which previously was 1991cc is 1998cc now. The changes to the engine have been very effective and have made the new Cruze one of the most powerful sedans in its segment. The power delivered by the 2012 Cruze is 164bhp at 3800rpm instead of 148bhp at 4000rpm, which the previous version churned out.

On the face of it, there is only a difference of 7cc but adding to this difference is the positioning of the VGT towards the front of the hood, tuning of the engine in a way that it has very low NVH (Noise, Vibrations and harshness) and a 6 speed transmission in both manual and automatic options, which together have resulted in a much more powerful and efficient Chevrolet Cruze. The looks and panache of Chevrolet Cruze were second to none ever since it came out for the first time and now the engine capacities have improved quite a bit; seems like GM India might have found their trump card to achieve their sale targets as well as the position that they deserve.
