MG opens booking for the ZS EV: Here is how you can book your SUV on the MG website

If there is one thing we learnt during this lockdown (aside from personal hygiene) it is the problem of vehicle emissions in our country. With the air becoming clean enough that the snow-capped Himalayan mountains were visible from nearby cities after decades, the solution is quite clear: reduction of carbon emissions from cars.

British carmaker Morris Garages launched the all-electric ZS EV in January this year to battle that very problem, and you can be a part of the solution through an easy booking process. Bookings for the SUV can now be made from a total of eleven cities as MG's 'Phase 2' expansion plan sees the addition of six more cities. From 1st June, bookings for the electric SUV will begin in Pune, Jaipur, Surat, Chandigarh, Cochin, and Chennai. This comes as the ZS EV sees an increase in demand as the Indian market witnesses a transition to electric cars.

Shifting to a digital platform, MG has eliminated direct contact between customers and the dealerships while booking the electric SUV. It can be done through the carmaker's website.

The process begins by choosing the model and powertrain (the ZS EV offers a standalone automatic transmission), one of two trims (Exclusive and Excite), and three colour options (Currant Red, Ferris White, and Copenhagen Blue). Customers then have to select a dealer based on their state and city selections. An OTP will be received by the customer on entering their email ID and mobile number, which will lead to the next step.

The next set of details required are the customer's name and complete address. A token amount is displayed, which in this case is Rs 50,000. The customer has to enter their PAN number and then can proceed to the online payment page, which offers a range of digital payment options, after which they will receive a booking ID.

Using the booking ID and an OTP sent to the registered mobile number, customers will get live updates on the booking status, right from production to their doorstep. The car will be completely sanitized before delivery, especially at the most frequently used points, such as the steering wheel, door handles and centre console.

The MG ZS EV is available at a starting price of Rs 20.88 lakh (ex-showroom). The Internet SUV boasts a number of features such as a panoramic sunroof, an 8-inch infotainment system with connected car technology, a PM 2.5 AC air filter, and three drive modes: Eco, Normal, and Sport. The 44.5kWh battery offers a range of 340km, which will definitely ease range anxiety.

Talking about range anxiety, MG has provided a service wherein an emergency charge is just a phone call away. The British carmaker has provided DC fast-charging support in MG's showrooms throughout the cities (Delhi, Mumbai, Ahmedabad, Hyderabad, Bengaluru, Pune, Jaipur, Surat, Chandigarh, Cochin, and Chennai) the car is available in.
