XUV500 AT W10 AWD Review
Mahindra XUV500 AT W10 AWD is one of the newly added variants in this model series. It is equipped with an mHawk diesel engine that can displace 2179cc. A 6-speed automatic transmission gear box is mated to this oil burner. This machine gets a reliable braking system wherein, disc brakes are used for all wheels which ensures greater safety. Other protective attributes like hill hold control, side and curtain airbags, ABS, and door ajar lamps improve the security levels. This muscular vehicle comes with some impressive exterior aspects like 17 inch alloy wheels, aggressive radiator grille and chrome garnished tailgate. On the other hand, it has a spacious cabin that is incorporated with well cushioned seats. It includes an automatic air conditioner and a music system and both these are positioned on the dashboard. Aside from these, it also has power windows, telescopic steering, electric sunroof, illuminated key rings and various other such attributes that provides enhanced passenger comfort.
Exteriors:
This SUV is built with a total height of 1785mm along with a width and length of 1890mm and 4585mm. Its wheelbase measures about 2700mm, whereas its gross weight is 2510 Kgs. To talk about its front facade, it has a bold radiator grille with chrome inserts. This is surrounded by a large headlight cluster that includes projector lamps with light guides. It has a muscular bonnet with hydraulic assist, while the character lines on it makes it look attractive. Also, its frontage has a tinted solar reflecting windscreen glass that is fitted with smart rain sensing wipers. Its side profile has flared up wheel arches that are equipped with a modish set of 17 inch alloy wheels. The outside rear view mirrors have side turn indicators, while the door handles are painted in body color. The roof rails at the top also provide a stylish appearance. Coming to its rear end, it has a stylish tailgate with chrome slat and large tail lamps with turn indicators. Also, there is a wiper and defogger present to its windscreen.
Interiors:
Its roomy interiors are done up in a splendid way. The entire cabin looks just great in black and beige color schemes. The well cushioned seats get premium leather upholstery. The driver's seat can be electrically adjusted in different ways as per the need and convenience. Meanwhile, the folding facility to second and third row seats helps in making space for more luggage. A range of sophisticated equipments on the dashboard gives a contemporary look to its cockpit. Some of these include a twin pod instrument cluster, center console equipped with an audio unit, steering wheel with multiple switches and air vents as well. There is also a glove box compartment that comes with a laptop holder. Besides these, the cabin also includes assist grips, illuminated key rings, conversation mirror, reading lamps, and mobile charging points in all three rows.
Engine and Performance:
The car maker has powered it with a 2.2-litre diesel drivetrain that comes with a variable geometry turbocharger. It has four cylinders, 16 valves and coupled with a six speed automatic transmission gear box. This motor has the ability to produce a peak power of 140bhp at 3750rpm and yields a torque output of 330Nm in the range of 1600 to 2800rpm. It has a total displacement capacity of 2179cc and is supplied fuel through a common rail fuel injection system.
Braking and Handling:
This vehicle has its front and rear wheels equipped with a robust set of disc brakes, which improves the cornering ability along with short stopping distances. It is also accompanied by anti lock braking system along with electronic brake force distribution for boosting this mechanism. In terms of suspension, its front axle is affixed with a McPherson strut and the rear one gets a multi link. Both these axles are also fitted with anti roll bars. Meanwhile, handling is best ensured by its power assisted steering column that has tilt and telescopic adjustment functions.
Comfort Features:
It comes with a fully automatic temperature control that creates a pleasant ambiance inside. One of the key attributes is the electric sunroof that has anti pinch function. For the best in-car entertainment, there is an advanced audio system with 7-inch touchscreen color display. It supports USB port, Bluetooth audio and iPod connectivity as well. This vehicle is also available with the Mahindra BLUE SENSE technology through which, the infotainment and HVAC systems can be controlled. There are power windows with express up-down and anti pinch functions on driver's side. Besides these, it has remote tail gate opening, follow-me-home headlamps, smart key with remote central locking, reverse parking camera with dynamic assist and many other such aspects.
Safety Features:
It is offered with a long list of security attributes that provides maximum level of protection. These include door ajar notification, rear demister, hill hold as well as hill descent control. The dual front, side as well as curtain airbags are helpful in preventing injuries in the event of a collision. It has anti lock braking system with electronic brake force distribution that protects from skidding. Aside from all these, the list also includes crumple zones for crash protection, electronic stability program with rollover mitigation, and side impact beams.
