Pros & Cons of Mahindra Alturas G4
Things We Like
- Size: Large and imposing looks make it stand out.
- Loaded: Ventilated seats, Nappa leather upholstery, sunroof, dual-zone AC - you name it.
- Safety: Body is built out of 81.7% high-strength steel, 9 airbags are a segment first.
- Low-speed ride quality: Simply glides over and flattens out bumps. Deliciously smooth!
- Classy interiors: Looks posh, feels properly upmarket.
Things We Don't Like
- Low-set third row best left for kids. Uncomfortable for adults even on short journeys.
- Feels bouncy at higher speeds, more so in the second and third rows.
- Touchscreen graphics and response could’ve been better.
- Audio system is average at best
- Mercedes-Benz-sourced 7-speed automatic feels lazy, especially under hard acceleration.

Mahindra Alturas G4 Car Latest Update
Latest Update: Mahindra has discontinued the Alturas G4 and halted the bookings of the SUV.
Price: Towards the end of its lifecycle, the Alturas G4 was priced at Rs 30.68 lakh (ex-showroom, Delhi).
Variants: It was only available in a single fully loaded variant: 2WD High.
Seating Capacity: It had a seven-seater configuration.
Engine and Transmission: Mahindra had provided the SUV with a 2.2-litre, four-cylinder diesel engine (making 181PS and 420Nm). This unit came mated to a seven-speed automatic gearbox.
Features: The Alturas G4 was equipped with an eight-inch infotainment system, a single-pane sunroof, ventilated front seats, ambient lighting, cruise control, dual zone climate control and an eight-way electrically adjustable driver seat.
Safety: In terms of safety it got nine airbags, ABS with EBD, electronic stability program (ESP), hill descent control, a 360-degree camera and ISOFIX child anchorages.
Rivals: Mahindra Alturas G4 squared off against the Toyota Fortuner, Jeep Meridian, MG Gloster and Skoda Kodiaq.
