Toyota Yaris Black Edition Teased

It comes with an all-black exterior and chrome surrounds

• It will likely be offered in the higher-specced V Optional and VX variants at a slight premium.

• The Yaris is offered with a 1.5-litre petrol engine only with the choice of a 6-speed manual and CVT automatic.

It’s the time for special editions with the upcoming festive season and Toyota has teased one for its Yaris compact sedan. The Yaris Black Edition is a cosmetic package which offers the sedan in an all-black colour option which hasn’t been offered on the model as a standard factory option. This is likely a limited-time variant.

Apart from the all-black exterior, the Black Edition also features chrome surrounds for the headlamps and tail lamps as well as door-edge lighting on the inside. It will likely be offered on the higher-spec V Optional and VX variants which are equipped with seven airbags, 7.0-inch touchscreen infotainment system, auto AC, cruise control, front and rear parking sensors, rear parking camera and auto headlamps. 

The Yaris is only offered with a 1.5-litre petrol engine that makes 107PS of power and 140Nm of torque. It is available with the choice of a 6-speed manual or a 7-step CVT automatic. The top-spec VX variant is only offered with the automatic transmission and features hill start assist and vehicle stability control. It also gets the full bells and whistles with features such as power-adjustable driver’s seat, rain-sensing wipers, rear sunshade, tyre-pressure monitoring system, and gesture control for the infotainment system.

Toyota is yet to announce the prices for the Yaris Black Edition but it is likely to attract a small premium over the variant it will be based on. The Yaris is currently priced between Rs 8.86 lakh and Rs 14.40 lakh (ex-showroom Delhi). In case a deep black exterior is one of your car buying criteria, Yaris’ rival Hyundai Verna compact sedan is also available in a similar shade. The Toyota Yaris itself is due a facelift update in early-2021.
