Mitsubishi that first showcased the 2013 Outlander at the Geneva Show earlier this year, is now planning to bring in the vehicle to India as well in 2013. And our sources reveal that this time around the vehicle will have the diesel engine option as well in the country. 2013 has received some major changes helping it become an all new vehicle this time. It looks more refreshed, aggressive, safer and different than the outgoing version having the new slim front aerodynamic grille with hockey-shaped chromed strips, wrap-around headlamps, Montero like bumper, high flanks, raised beltline, uncluttered surfaces, strong shouldering and soft-contoured fenders.

Similar in size to the current car, the 4655mm Next Generation Outlander follows a clear design brief where in true Mitsubishi fashion, key directions were for an “engineer’s car” with a “Solid – Safe – Simple” shape, blending substantial look with clean surfaces, as previewed in the Concept PX-MiEV and Concept PX-MiEV II show cars.

This same quality look continues inside the car with high grade premium materials (padded surfaces, soft-touch finish, silver or wood accents,2 gloss black appliqués) gracing a dashboard designed for better driver concentration, including ergonomic steering wheel controls as well as high-resolution and easy-to-read instrument displays. The existing Mitsubishi outlander that currently has only one petrol engine, this time it might come in a total 3 engine options, two petrol- 2.0-litre and 2.4-litre four-cylinder petrol engines and an all new 2.2-litre diesel. Whereas the petrol engines will have the 5-speed manual or CVT gearboxes, the diesel might come in a 6-speed manaul or 6-speed Automatic tranmissions.
