Mahindra Launches SsangYong Rexton at Rs. 17.67 Lakh
One of the top most awaited launches of the year is finally here. Mahindra Mahindra have finally released the long over-due high-end SUV at the Intercontinental. The SsayngYong Rexton SUV is to go up for grabs at the aggressive price of Rs. 17.67 lakh for the manul version and Rs. 19.67 lakh for the automatic version. The Rexton W comes with 2.7-litre 5-cylinder configuration CRDI engine and will come mated to a 5-speed manual or 5-speed automatic transmission. The most exciting bit here is that the automatic transmission is Mercedes-Benz sourced which means no droopy shifts and a solid lifetime.
The SsayngYong Rexton line-up consists of 2 variants namely; the Rexton RX5 which is the manual transmission version and the Rexton RX7 which is the automatic transmission AWD version. The Rexton will be sold through the existing Mahindra dealerships and will come with a 2-years or 100,000kms warranty. As we reported previoiusly on CarDekho, the Rexton is currently in its 3rd generation and is bought from Korea via the CKD route which explains the competitive pricing of the SUV.
Taking a look under the hood, we see that the engine has two different power outputs depending on the transmission. The 5-speed manual version that is the RX5 hands out a slightly lower 162bhp along with 340Nm of torque while the RX7 which is the automatic version belts out 184bhp with 402Nm of torque. The Rexton RX5 gives ARAI specified mileage figures of 12.4kmpl while the Rexton RX7 will fetch you 11.18kmpl. Coming to the interiors, we see Mahindra has kept up its promise to deliver a high-end SUV at a budget price. The Rexton W gets a ton of features in the form of leather upholstery, Electric sunroof, cruise control, Front and side airbags, Speed sensing door locks, leather wrapped steering and gear knob and much more. The interiors come in beige and black dual tone shades and a handsome looking navigation panel with pre-loaded maps. An infotainment system completes the already loaded Rexton.
The exteriors of the Rexton have just much to offer as the interiors. The SUV comes with 10-spoke alloy wheels and chrome grille front fascia. The front also shows off projector headlamps with L-shaped parking lights while the side has a stainless steel beltline with chrome moldings on offer. The Rexton will make light work of Indian roads with its double wishbone with coil springs suspension making it a prime vehicle when it comes to ride quality. From what it looks like, Mahindra may have released yet another successful model to rival its XUV500. However, how the Rexton fares in the Indian market is yet to be seen.
