- Big cabin upgrade: A completely redesigned, chunky dashboard and a far more comfortable, big-person-friendly driving position.
- Improved ride comfort: Toyota has taken a good amount of sharpness out of the ride, most noticeably in the front row.
- Effortless engine: The proven 2.8-litre diesel is torquey and relaxed, now paired with a smoother, more polished automatic.
- Serious off-road hardware: Ladder-frame chassis, low-range 4x4, rear diff lock and a full suite of traction electronics.

- Outdated cabin: The design and materials used makes the interior look old
- Not so comfortable: Rear passengers can feel a lot of movement over bad roads
- Petrol lacks punch: The petrol powertrain does not feel as quick as the diesel on highways
