Maruti Brezza 2,250Km Review: Tealicious!

My friends and I, like many of you, are fond of tea. And the search for good tea takes us to various locations and terrains.

Pune has quite a lot of chai ‘tapris' (stalls), which gives you a lot of options. But depending on the time of day, and the day of the month, you need to narrow down your choices. Early in the day – and in the month – you have ample parking and budget. Hence, going to a fancy tea cafe is feasible. The quality of the tea is good, the Brezza looks good in the parking lot even with more expensive cars and you can enjoy some snacks on the side as well. The conversation with friends over this tea is also more intellectual; like where to invest and what's in the near future. Also, going to scenic locations for tea becomes a weekend plan and we don't hesitate to travel hundreds of kilometres for a cup of tea with a view. The Brezza makes light work of broken roads and off-road patches.

Midway through the month, after the EMIs have been deducted, you think twice before spending three digits on a cuppa. This means going to a local tea place in the interior of the city, and hence parking is a challenge. But the Brezza has you covered. The sub-4 metre footprint, and my parallel parking skills (yes, the 360 degree camera is also helpful) help us get into – and out of – the tightest of spots. The conversation now shifts to “where can I freelance for cash” and “who owes us how much”.

Then comes the end of the month when a “cutting chai” will do just fine. This time, your options are super limited as not every street vendor makes tea the way you like and driving too far is not viable either. Hence, you take what you get. But now, there is no parking hence the tea comes in the car itself. We drive along to find the right spot to park and then enjoy the flavour. The Brezza's smooth power delivery and excellent suspension balance doesn't let the tea spill. The engine is quiet and refined so the conversations about our expenses outpacing our salaries and nervously waiting for reimbursements can happen calmly.

Then, there is emergency tea. Yes, there is such a thing. It's when one of your friends has had a crisis (in a job or a relationship) and needs to vent. This can come any time of the month or day so you need to be prepared. The Brezza is a default choice here because of the better fuel efficiency lets you go pick them up, and drive along for as long as needed. The cup holders keep the tea safe and the dark upholstery doesn't let the seat get stained even if some of it spills.

In all of our tea endeavours, the Brezza, a.k.a Cubone, is a worthy partner. Its quiet, calm and comfortable basics make it the ideal chai-run SUV. Even when we have other cars in the office like the Octavia and the Taigun, it's the Brezza that we prefer for the reasons mentioned above.
