Wagon R 2013-2022 Pro Review
Maruti Suzuki India is one of the most reputed and leading car makers in the Indian car market. Their stables have some of the top selling cars, which have been doing extremely well since their respective launch in the country. One such best seller in their stable is Maruti Wagon R, which was launched in the Indian market way back in year 1999. This hatchback has quite a number of variants on offer and the company has not introduced another trim to it, which is christened as Maruti Wagon R PRO. This latest entrant has been gifted with some exciting interior as well as exterior features to spice it up for the customers. The engine is more or less the same and quite a number of other features are also alike the prevalent version in the market. The 998cc engine is quite peppy and generates adequate torque and power which is quite good for the Indian road and traffic conditions. The suspension and braking system is also very sturdy and keeps this hatchback well balanced. The latest version of this hatchback has been developed and manufactured on an all new platform and is being sold in quite a few other international car markets as well. This hatchback has been localized to a great extent to gel with the Indian preferences and have a few trims to choose from. This new Maruti Wagon R PRO will have all the features which are available with the regular variants. There is also an option of integrating this hatchback with the advanced antilock braking system along with dual front airbags as well, which is available as a combination and not individually unlike in other vehicles. It has been quite a few years now that this hatchback has been one of the most liked hatchbacks in the Indian automobile market and with the entry of this new limited edition Maruti Wagon R PRO , the company is expecting to generate impressive sales. This latest version has been made sleeker than the regualr variants as they are termed as having a box shaped design. The existing version is more sleek and stylish than its earlier sibling and seems to have been liked by the populace as well.
Exteriors
The outsides of this charming hatchback are quite eye catching and impresses you with its tall boy design. This latest Maruti Wagon R PRO looks bigger and has been given some added features to its exteriors as well. The frontage has a neatly designed front grille, which has quite a bit of chrome on it. The head light cluster is quite large and has been fitted with high intensity lamps that have shade of blue tint to it and provide excellent view for the driver. The big body colored front bumper has been integrated with a couple of bright fog lamps, which further enhance the visibility of the driver, even in adverse weather conditions. The large wind screen gives a clear vision and has been integrated with a pair of 2 speed + intermittent wipers , which clean the windshield efficiently. The roof in this latest version is a bit slanting and this hatchback has been given a pair of stylish roof rails, which add to the sporty look of this car. The neatly done up wheel arches are subtle and have newly designed full wheel covers with tubeless tyres of size 155/65 R14 . The side also has body graphics and smart decals, which is adding a lot of zing to this compact hatchback. The body colored external rear view mirrors along with body colored door handles add to the stylishness of this new Maruti Wagon R PRO. This hatchback also has smart flared fenders and also tinted glass for all the four windows. The rear end has a rear wiper, washer as well as a defogger for better vision in the rainy season. Apart from this, Maruti Wagon R Prp also has a stylish tail gate, which is flanked by a bright tail light cluster that has crystal effect lamps. These radiant lamps are visible clearly in the dark and make it easier for the other car drivers to spot this hatchback. Apart from all the above, this latest entrant also has a chrome polished back door garnish, amber colored side turn blinkers, side body moldings and a pillar antenna as well along with a smart rear spoiler as well. This limited edition hatchback also has a ‘PRO' monogram embedded on the tail gate to give it a distinct appeal from the other regular versions.
The overall dimensions of this limited edition hatchback are very appealing with a total length of 3595mm along with a total width of 1495mm. Whereas the overall height of this hatchback along with the roof rails is 1495mm and it has a roomy wheel base of 2400mm . The ground clearance is remarkable with 165mm and this new Maruti Wagon R PRO takes about 4.6 meters as its complete turning radius.
Interiors
The insides of this all new Maruti Wagon R PRO has also been given a refurbished look when compared to the regular versions. The impressive additions are newly designed seat covers, which are covered with premium upholstery. The company has also gifted this hatchback with a trendy set of new floor mats and a wonderful car perfume as well to keep the interior cabin fresh. It has a sophisticated cabin with lots of space that is quite good and the seating arrangement is very comfortable, which can easily accommodate five passengers effortlessly. This hatchback has dual tone interiors, which make it look urbane and chic. The instrument panel has been treated with quite a bit of chrome, which further makes it look classy. All the seats are ergonomically designed to augment the comfort of the passengers. The molded roof lining and needle punch for the floor carpet adds to the up market look of this new hatchback. This hatchback has door trim fabric along with a parcel shelf at the back to keep some handy things. There are front and rear cabin lamps, which can be adjusted in three positions. The seats have stylish and adjustable head rests for both front and rear seats. The internal rear view mirror is anti glare and helps the driver to avoid the sharp lights in the night from heavier vehicles. There is a sun visor for the driver side along with a ticket holder, while there is a vanity mirror in the sun visor of the front passenger side. Engine and Performance
The peppy petrol engine of this new limited edition Maruti Wagon R PRO is quite similar as the regular variants. This 1.0 litre all aluminum light weight K10B power train can displace close to 998cc and is complaint with all the norms of Bharat Stage IV. This drive train has 3 cylinders and each of these cylinders have been equipped with four cylinders to make it smooth and easy, while driving. This performance packed petrol engine has the capability to produce a peak power output of 66.64 Bhp at 6200 Rpm in combination with a maximum torque yield of 90 Nm at 3500 Rpm. This energetic engine has been skillfully mated with an efficient five speed manual transmission gear box. The top speed is said to be in the range of 152 kmph, while this hatchback apparently can break the 100 kmph barrier in just under 15 seconds from a stand still . This performance packed engine has been fine tuned to be extremely fuel efficient and the company claims that it can generate an outstanding mileage of 18.9 kmpl , under standard driving conditions and this has also been approved by the reputed ARAI as well.
Braking and Handling
Maruti Suzuki India is a household name in the country and is reputed to make very safe and stable cars for the populace. The braking and suspension system of this limited edition Maruti Wagon R PRO is also in line with all its other siblings. The braking system of this hatchback has ventilated disc for the front tyres, while the rear tyres have been equipped with drum based brakes. The suspension system is sturdy with a McPherson struts along with a coil spring for the front axle, whereas the rear axle has been equipped with an isolated trailing link with coil spring.
