Wagon R 2013-2022 DUO LPG Review

MSIL is India's largest passenger car maker has a brilliant fleet of cars. Among the models available, Wagon R is one of their bestselling hatchback. The company is selling it in petrol, LPG and CNG fuel options for the buyers to choose from. This Maruti Wagon R DUO LPG comes with a 1.0-litre Bi-fuel engine, which has a displacement capacity of 998cc. In LPG mode this engine can churn out a maximum power of 61.6bhp along with a torque of 85Nm. It is incorporated with an intelligent gas port injection, which helps in producing 14.6 Km/kg on the highways and 11 Km/kg in the city limits. The braking and suspension mechanism of this hatchback are quite proficient and keeps it stable at all times. The front and rear wheels are fitted with a set of ventilated disc and drum brakes respectively. Meanwhile, the front axle is assembled with McPherson strut, while the rear gets isolated trailing link type of suspension mechanism. Currently, this hatchback is available in seven exterior paint options for the buyers to choose. These include Superior White, Ecru Beige, Bakers Chocolate, Breeze Blue, Silky Silver, Glistening Grey and a Passion Red finish option to choose from.

Exteriors:

The overall dimensions are quite standard and can easily accommodate five passengers. It is designed with a large wheelbase of 3599mm and a minimum ground clearance of 165mm. The overall length is 3599mm along with a decent height of 1700mm and a total width of 1495mm, which includes external rear view mirrors as well. To begin with the side profile, it is fitted with body colored door handles, external rear view mirrors and side body moldings. The neatly carved wheel arches are fitted with a set of 13 inch steel wheels with full wheel caps. These rims are further covered with 145/80 R13 sized tubeless radial tyres. The rear end has a large boot lid, which comes with a chrome stripe and variant badging. The windscreen is integrated with a centrally located high mounted third brake light. It also has a radiant tail light cluster with crystal effect and a body colored bumper as well. On the other hand, the frontage is designed with a chrome accentuated radiator grille, which is embedded with a company insignia in the center. This grille is surrounded by a well lit headlight cluster, which is equipped with halogen lamps and side turn indicator. The body colored bumper has a wide air dam for cooling the engine. The windscreen is made of tinted glass and integrated with 2-speed intermittent wipers as well.

Interiors:

The dual tone (Beige and Black) internal section of this Maruti Wagon R DUO LPG variant is incorporated with well cushioned seats, which are covered with two tone plush upholstery with 3D effect. The silver accentuated instrument panel, gear shift knob and door handles gives the cabin a classy appearance. Apart from these, it is equipped with molded roof lining, door trim fabric, 3-position cabin lamps, adjustable headrests, day and night internal rear view mirror, sun visors with driver side ticket holder and many other such aspects. The smooth dashboard is equipped with a few features like a urethane three spoke silver finished steering wheel, an instrument panel, a large glove box and AC vents. The car maker has given this variant a number of utility based aspects, which are bottle holders, driver side storage space, front door map pockets, floor console with cup holders, front seat back pockets and so on. It has 12V power socket in center console for charging mobiles and other electronic devices.

Engine and Performance:

This variant is powered by a 1.0-litre Bi-fuel engine, which comes with a displacement capacity of 998cc. This four cylinder based engine is mated with a five speed manual transmission gear box, which distributes the engine power to its front wheels. In petrol mode, it can churn out 67bhp at 6200rpm along with a peak torque output of 90Nm at 3500rpm. At the same time, when it is driven in LPG mode, this mill has the ability to generate 61.6bhp 6200rpm in combination with 85Nm of torque at 3500rpm. This power plant is incorporated with an intelligent gas port injection fuel supply system, which helps in producing 14.6 Km/kg and 11 Km/kg on the highways and city limits respectively. This hatchback has the ability to cross the speed barrier of 100 Kmph from a standstill in close to 15.9 seconds, while it can attain a top speed of 148 Kmph.

Braking and Handling:

The car manufacturer has blessed it with a power steering system, which is tilt adjustable and supports a minimum turning radius of 4.6 meters. The front wheels are equipped with a set of ventilated disc brakes, while the rear gets drum brakes. On the other hand, its front axle is assembled with McPherson strut, whereas the rear is fitted with an isolated trailing link. This suspension mechanism is further assisted by coil spring for better stability.

Comfort Features:

The company has bestowed this variant a number of sophisticated features, which gives the occupants a comfortable driving experience. The list of features includes a remote fuel lid and tail gate opener, three foldable assist grip, front power windows, power steering system with tilt adjustment function and many other such aspects as well. The efficient air conditioning unit comes with a heater and rotary AC controls. The illuminated instrument panel is equipped with low fuel warning light, speedometer, digital fuel indicator with double tripmeter, driver seat belt warning notification and so on.
