In a hunt to catch one Volkswagen Polo test mule, we carried on a chase to find a fleet of them that had halted at a point. These vehicles had a GT badge on the front grille, and the rear one was taken off.

The reason how we came to the conclusion of this being the GT TDI is because of the sound that the exhaust made and all the diesel clatter produced by the vehicle.

The GT TSI has a completely different note from that of the GT TDI and we got to hear that on these Polo test mules. There were some regular TDIs in the fleet too. Possibly Volkswagen is either upgrading them, or bench marking these new GT TDIs with the existing TDIs.

The Volkswagen GT TSI comes with a seven-speed DSG transmission and even the GT TDI could come equipped with the same DSG box.  We learn that the launch of the GT TDI isn’t too far, and we could see the vehicle on the Indian roads by October.

Volkswagen has been working on several new product derivatives for Indian market and we can see their arrival in the Indian market soon. The Vento is another vehicle that will get an additional engine option, along with the existing two mills. At the moment, the Volkswagen GT TSI is the flagship of the Polo range and soon the GT TDI will be the new range topping variant.
