Electric vehicles in India are now becoming mainstream, whether in the mass-market or luxury segment. However, a major concern that still prevails regarding electric car ownership in India is the question of how many kilometres they can cover on a full charge. Automakers such as Hyundai, Kia, Volvo, and Mercedes-Benz offer EVs in their portfolio that can cater to your long-distance travel requirements. If you're seeking a long-range EV, we have compiled a list of 11 electric cars that boast a range of over 500kms.

BYD E6

Price: Rs 29.15 lakh

BYD E6

The BYD E6 is the most affordable car on this list that offers a WLTC-claimed driving range of up to 520km in city conditions. The E6 comes with a 71.7kWh battery pack, which is paired with an electric motor that produces 95PS and 180Nm, and it has a top speed of 130kmph.

It supports two charging options: a 60kW DC fast charger and a 6.6kW AC charger. The former takes 90 minutes to charge the EV from 0 to 90 percent, while the latter takes 12 hours to completely charge the battery pack.

BYD Atto 3

Prices: Rs 33.99 lakh to Rs 34.49 lakh

The BYD Atto 3 SUV is equipped with a 60.48kWh battery pack, paired with an electric motor producing 204PS and 310Nm. It is a front-wheel-drive EV that offers an ARAI-claimed range of 521km.

The Atto 3 offers three charging options: a 7kW AC charger, capable of charging the battery in approximately 10 hours, an 80kW DC fast charger, which can recharge the battery from zero to 80 percent in 50 minutes; and a 3kW AC portable charger.

Hyundai Ioniq 5

Price: Rs 45.95 lakh

Hyundai Ioniq 5

The Hyundai Ioniq 5 is the flagship EV from the Korean automaker in India which uses a 72.6kWh battery pack. The unit is mated to a rear-mounted single electric motor, which churns out 217PS and 350Nm. The Ioniq 5 offers an ARAI claimed range of 631km. 

When it comes to charging, it gets two options: 150kW and 50kW fast chargers. The former can rejuvenate the battery from 0 to 80 percent in 21 minutes, while the latter does the same in an hour.

Volvo C40 Recharge

Price: Rs 61.25 lakh

Volvo C40 Recharge

The Volvo C40 Recharge is an SUV-coupe version of the XC40 Recharge, utilising the same 78kWh battery pack but with an enhanced claimed range of up to 530km. The efficiency of the battery pack used in the C40 Recharge has been improved, and its aerodynamic and sleek design contribute to its ability to achieve greater range compared to the XC40 Recharge.

Equipped with an all-wheel-drive dual-motor setup producing 408PS and 660Nm, the C40 Recharge can accelerate from 0 to 100kmph in just 4.7 seconds. It supports 150kW DC fast charging which can charge the battery from 10 to 80 percent in 27 minutes.

Kia EV6

Price Range: 60.95 lakh to Rs 65.95 lakh

The Kia EV6 is built on the same E-GMP platform as the Hyundai Ioniq 5. However, it features a slightly larger 77.4kWh battery pack and offers two powertrain choices. One option is a single-motor rear-wheel-drive setup (229PS/350Nm), while the other is a dual-motor all-wheel-drive configuration (325PS/605Nm). The Kia EV6 has a claimed range of up to 708km.

Kia offers its flagship EV in India with two charging options: a 350kW DC fast charger which can juice up the battery from 10 to 80 per cent in 18 minutes, while a 50kW charger takes 73 minutes for the same. 

BMW i4

Price Range: 73.90 lakh to Rs 77.50 lakh

BMW i4

The BMW i4 is an all-electric sedan based on the BMW 3 Series which comes with an 83.9kWh battery pack which offers a claimed WLTP range of up to 590km. The unit is mated to a rear-wheel drive electric motor which produces 340PS and 430Nm.

The i4 supports three charging options, including a 250kW DC fast charger that can rejuvenate the battery from 10 to 80 percent in 31 minutes, a 50kW DC charger takes around 1.3 hours to recharge the battery from 0 to 80 percent, and an 11kW wall charger, which takes around 8.5 hours to completely juice up the battery.

Audi Q8 e-tron

Price Range: Rs 1.14 crore to Rs 1.31 crore

Audi Q8 e-tron

The Audi e-tron received a facelift in August and was renamed as the Q8 e-tron. It comes in two body styles: SUV and SUV-coupe. Audi is offering the updated electric SUV with two battery pack options, 89 kWh and 114kWh, offering a range of up to 600km. All versions except the smaller battery version in the traditional SUV body promises a range of over 500km.

Mercedes-Benz EQE SUV

Price: Rs 1.39 crore

Mercedes-Benz EQE SUV Launched At Rs 1.39 Crore

Mercedes-Benz has recently launched its third all-electric offering in India, the EQE SUV. It is offered in a single fully loaded variant, and comes with a 90.56kWh battery, with a WLTP-claimed range of up to 550km. This unit is mated to an all-wheel drive electric motor which puts out  408PS and 858Nm, and has a claimed top-speed of 210kmph. 

It comes with two charging options: an 11kW wall box charger and a 170kW DC fast charging option. The DC fast charger can recharge it from 10 to 80 percent in just over 30 minutes.

BMW i7

Price: Rs 1.95 crore

The BMW i7 is the flagship all-electric luxury sedan in the Bavarian carmaker’s India lineup, andpacks a 101.7kWh battery pack offering a WLTP-claimed range of up to 625km. It comes with a dual-electric motor setup with an output of 544PS and 745Nm.

The battery can be charged from 10 to 80 percent in 34 minutes when using a 195kW charger. A 22kW wallbox charger would require 1.5 hours to do the same. The BMW i7 is a direct rival to the Mercedes EQS.

Audi e-tron GT 

Price Range: Rs 1.70 crore to Rs 1.94 crore

Audi e-tron GT Electric Luxury Sedans Launched In India, Starts From Rs 1.79 Crore

The Audi e-tron GT is powered by a 93kWh battery pack. It offers a WLTP-claimed range of up to 500km while the sportier RS e-tron GT falls short of that mark thanks to the extra performance on offer. The powertrain details are mentioned below:

  • Standard e-tron GT: 476PS (530PS in launch control for 2.5 seconds) and 630Nm (640Nm in Boost mode for 2.5 seconds)

  • RS e-tron GT: 598PS (646PS during launch control for 2.5 seconds) and 830Nm.

Mercedes-Benz EQS

Price: Rs 1.55 crore to 2.45 crore

Mercedes-Benz EQS 580

The Mercedes-Benz EQS is offered in two variants: EQS 580 4MATIC and AMG EQS 53 4MATIC+. Both variants of the EQS utilises an all-wheel drivetrain (AWD) powered by a 107.8kWh battery pack. 

The AMG EQS 53 4MATIC+ generates 658PS and 950Nm, boasting a WLTP-certified range of up to 586km. With the dynamic pack, this configuration delivers a total of 761PS and 1020Nm. On the other hand, the EQS 580 4MATIC produces 523PS and 855Nm, and offers an ARAI-certified range of 857km.
