In the first-edition of CarDekho Awards, one category amongst the ten was of the Most Popular Luxury Vehicle. We are several strong contenders for this, however Range Rover Evoque merged out as the strongest with the highest number of votes. Jaguar Land Rover India’s Head, Mr Rohit Suri collected the trophy on behalf of the British marquee. JLR India has been going strong and we also grabbed the opportunity to speak to Mr Suri, and ask him some questions about the future plans of the company with regards with India.
Q1) Congratulations for the Range Rover Evoque. It is indeed a gorgeous-looking SUV. How is this SUV doing when compared to our Land Rovers?
Rohit: Since we launched the Range Rover Evoque, we have had great interest in its unique design, premium technologies and compact size. There really is no other vehicle like the Evoque and this sets it apart from the competition. In India, it is one of our best selling models.
Q2) How many dealerships are JLR targeting?
Rohit: We currently have 17 operational outlets in 15 cities, By the end of the calendar year we hope to have 22 outlets.
Q3) We drove the Range Rover Sport, and were impressed with it. When can we except it to be launched here?
Rohit: The All New Range Rover Sport will be launched in India around September this year.
Q4) What sort of rise in sales has Jaguar seen since the launch of XF 2.2?
Rohit: The 2.2 litre diesel engine has broadened the offering of this multi award winning product and coupled with local assembly, the demand for the Jaguar XF has been superb. This has resulted in a significant increase in sales since we offered the local assembly car. In addition, the Jaguar XF has been compared by journalists with competitor vehicles in India and it has consistently been the best performing model.
